Bleckley County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state). As of 2000, the population is 11,666. The countys county seat is Cochran, GeorgiaGeographic references.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 568 square kilometer (219 square mile). 563 km� (217 mi�) of it is land and 5 km� (2 mi�) of it is water. The total area is 0.79% water.


As of the censusGeographic references 2 of 2000, there are 11,666 people, 4,372 households, and 3,121 families residing in the county. The population density is 21/km� (54/mi�). There are 4,866 housing units at an average density of 9/km� (22/mi�). The racial makeup of the county is 73.24% Race (U.S. census), 24.59% Race (U.S. census) or Race (U.S. census), 0.09% Race (U.S. census), 0.93% Race (U.S. census), 0.03% Race (U.S. census), 0.48% from race (U.S. census), and 0.63% from two or more races. 0.92% of the population are Race (U.S. census) or Race (U.S. census) of any race. There are 4,372 households out of which 32.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.80% are Marriage living together, 15.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.60% are non-families. 25.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.02. In the county the population is spread out with 26.60% under the age of 18, 11.30% from 18 to 24, 26.50% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% who are 65 years of age or older.
